What is the Most Important Entrepreneurial Skill to Have?

For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Maini Homer. I am a Business leader who has been in business for myself for over 23 years. In that time, I have been responsible for creating 13 successful businesses from scratch. But enough about me. What you are really here to find out is, what is the most important entrepreneurial skill to have?

Well, first things first. I want to make it clear that we can all do whatever we truly want to do, when we believe that we can. Sure, some of us are born with talents in certain areas, but I really feel it’s only our minds that hold us back and stop us from creating exactly what we want.

So, how is it that I’ve been this successful? Is it because I had certain entrepreneurial skills naturally or is this something I’ve had to learn along the way? Well, I can tell you, it’s a bit of both. I’ve always had the gift of the gab, and always had the drive to succeed and make something of myself. Yet, there was always something stopping me and holding me back. I realised this was actually my mindset.

So, why is strong mindset one of the most important entrepreneurial skills to have? Well, if you have a clear, strong mindset, then you can live with 100% certainty that you will have everything you put your mind to. If you truly believe in yourself and your ability, then you will get everything you’ve ever desired and wanted.

If you don’t have these basic entrepreneurial skills then you may find that like me, you struggle along for years and years, only ever getting so far in your businesses. Now, don’t get me wrong, people would look at what I’d done and think, “Wow!”

I haven’t had a job in 23 years. I haven’t had a boss telling me what to do and I’ve pretty much had an incredible lifestyle. This freedom allowed me to raise my two children, as well as having excellent income coming in.

If there was something on at the kids’ school, I was able to take the time out to attend. I never missed a parade or a performance of any kind, and I was usually landed with three or four cameras. These were from the Moms who weren’t so lucky and who had to work in a job to bring in their incomes.

So, how did I get these vitally important entrepreneurial skills? Some of it was talent, I admit. But 90% was learned behaviour. Basically, I did exactly what you could do today.

If you started exploring what’s really holding you back with an NLP Practitioner for example, and addressing the problems that arise, you would start clearing your negative emotions and limiting beliefs.

Doing this would help you build confidence, self-worth, self-esteem and truly believe in yourself. With a bit of mind training, you’d start to think differently. You’d start to believe you could take on just about anything and more importantly you’d start to achieve.

When I did this, it took care of my fear of both success and failure. Before doing this, I’d only ever take my businesses so far, before I’d make sure that I did something to change that. This may have been through self-sabotage, or I’d just get “tired” of them and sell them or shut them down.

Now I happily run a successful copywriting business where we write content for clients across the globe. I know enough about my mind and my mindset that I can realise when I am doing acts of self-sabotage, and I can stop the behaviour and do something different. This allows me to continually grow my business instead of destroying it.

Now some of you may be saying, but I don’t do that. Well, what do you do? If your business is not the raging success you dream it to be, then you are doing something girlfriend. Maybe, like mine ws, it’s completely unconscious. Perhaps you aren’t even aware you are doing this yet.

That’s okay. If reading this article sparks you just a little, and gets you thinking then it’s a win for me. For years I wasted time and effort not doing the best I could in my businesses, and even though I did ok, I could have done so much better.

So, ask yourself honestly? Am I doing the absolute best I can be in my business? If the answer is no, then do yourself a favour and find out why. Getting your mindset sorted is, by far, the best entrepreneurial skill you can get!
